Spy Cameras Are Easily Concealed

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

It’s shameful to assert, but nowadays there are likely many reasons you might wish to own a concealed spy camera to conduct covert surveillance around your house, business, office, or maybe in your car. Like an additional pair of eyes that may be in places where you cannot, a concealed spy camera can provide you with visible confirmation of activities occurring in your absence or outside your view.

Enterprises have long used hidden and plain cameras to protect themselves from burglary, catch shoplifters, and ensure security for property. Likewise, they can monitor and document people coming off and on property, provide vital identification in the event of a robbery or other crime, and ward off potential vandals and tramps with such surveillance hardware.

But recently, individual folks have also found reasons to get hidden spy cameras for their own personal use. Sadly, it signifies a shortage of trust in another person that is all too often confirmed as being justified after review of the CCTV monitoring recorded. Men and women have used them to catch spouses, partners, and lovers cheating. Parents have used them to confirm suspected child abuse by a child-minder or daycare provider. Victims have used them to provide evidence a crime was committed-on their property, to their person, or in their houses. And individuals have used them to catch both mates and strangers taking from them, lying to them, and even committing still more horrible and awful crimes.

Does that suggest everybody should own one? Well, it’d be an even sadder world still if the answer was yes, and fortunately , the answer’s no-of course not. Relationships-whether personal, business, parent / kid, kid / daycare provider, teacher / child, man / wife, or any other kind-should be based totally on trust, and in most cases that trust is assured and deserved. In fact, spying on somebody you trust would imply distrust and could actually destroy a superbly healthy trusting relationship where nothing is otherwise amiss. It might be an invasion of privacy or a way of manipulation or control that is not only unhealthy but probably illegal depending on the circumstances.

But it’s nice to know if your gut tells you something is not right or that something is very wrong-whether it is suspecting a person of kid abuse, burglary, embezzling, forgery, cheating, or any other crime-whether a bonafide criminal complaint or a moral indiscretion-that the tools exist today and are instantly available for individuals to discover the real truth. They no longer have to live with claims or rumors torturing them. They can conduct the research they have to set their minds at ease and make an enlightened decision about a particular situation.

Hidden spy cameras can offer proof-whether or not it is admissible in a court of law in a specific jurisdiction-of something that has taken place-or evidence that it has not. They can increase feelings of security. They can set unfounded fears to rest. They can keep folks from being milked. And they can help folks make wiser calls about the way to conduct their lives primarily based on the facts. Like any other tool, they can be misused or used for the wrong reasons, but when utilized for bonafide reasons with just cause, they can provide us with pertinent info that can be very favorable, as well.

Hidden Cameras – Are They a Good Thing?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

The first, and most important, question you have to ask is “How am I going to use this?” Is it for use as a “Nanny Cam” to make sure your children are being taken care of properly? Are you trying to stop employee theft? Are you experiencing repeated vandalism? A hidden camera should only be used to document suspected unlawful or dangerous activity when there is no other way to catch the culprit.

How many times have you read about some pervert landlord that wired up his building so he could spy on his female tenants? Or some sicko placing a hidden camera in a ladies dressing room at a department store? This type of thing happens too often and that is the type of use of a hidden camera that is not a legitimate use! Thank goodness the courts usually impose a long jail sentence for these guys.

One way to make sure you are not a victim of a hidden camera or microphone is to purchase and use a signal detector. They are more commonly known as “Bug Detectors”. We have all seen these being used on TV and in the movies. You simply turn the hand held unit on and walk through the room or “sweep” the room. The signal detector picks up the signal transmitted by the hidden camera or microphone and helps you locate its exact position.

As you are “sweeping” your new place you have to be thorough. Really thorough! The latest spy cameras are very, very small and can be place inside almost any everyday object you would find in a home. When you do find something resist the temptation to move it or confront your landlord. Go out of your apartment and call the police. Don’t call from your place because the landlord might be watching or listening in and be able to destroy any evidence before the police arrive.

If you have a legitimate reason to buy a hidden camera then by all means do so. You are going to find that there is a wide selection of models to choose from. Clock radios, bird feeders, planters, air fresheners, these have all been retrofitted to place a hidden camera inside. Whatever you can think of and the chances are good that you can find one with a hidden camera installed!

Don’t be surprised if somebody notices and comments on that cute little teddy bear sitting on your shelf if you are a single guy living alone. The point is, when you decide that you are going to get a hidden camera make sure it looks like something you would have in your place anyway.

You are going to have to make some other decisions too. What type do you want? Do you want an all-in-one hidden camera? How about a wired one or do you prefer wireless.

If you choose the wireless option the hidden camera and a tiny transmitter will be placed inside the unit. The transmitter will send a signal through the air. You then have to have a receiver to pick up that signal. You can then connect the receiver to your TV, monitor or recording device.

The wired hidden camera will have an A/V cord coming out of the unit that will get plugged in directly to a recording device or TV or monitor.

The newest generation of hidden or spy cameras is the self recording one. The item that you decide on will have a tiny camera AND a recording unit all in one! They usually record onto an SD card that you simply remove and insert into your computer for viewing. You can place these anywhere and they are very mobile.

There are many options available when purchasing a hidden camera: black & white or color, low light capability, motion sensing, date & time stamp, etc. You will be able to find the camera that fits your needs and your budget.

The bottom line is that no matter what style or type of hidden camera you purchase, make sure you are purchasing it for a legitimate, ethical reason and use it properly.

Use Hidden Cameras – Properly

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Many people purchase hidden cameras and they never install them properly because they really didn’t learn how to use them properly in the first place. If you are thinking of purchasing cameras then you need to know how to use them. Here are a few things to follow.

One of the first things you have to ask yourself is “What type of recording am I looking for?”. By this we mean, are you hoping to set up a wireless camera and watch it “Live” on a TV or monitor or are you wanting to record it to a small digital SD card that will permit you to record the activity and watch it at a later time. Possibly for evidence? The new SD cards are extremely helpful because they are so small and can hold hours and hours of digital video recordings.

Most hidden cameras that use an SD card to record are hidden inside an innocent looking common item found in any home. There are no wires or antennae visible. They are sometimes found in lamps, clock radios, air ionizers, calculators, clocks, you name it and there could be a hidden camera using an SD card to record inside it. These cameras are the easiest to set up and use. Now, you can get one of these cameras that can record in low light or no light at all! These cameras are truly “plug & play”.

If you make the decision to buy a wired or wireless hidden camera you have to set it up differently. You must first decide where you want to place the camera. Try to make sure that wherever you place the camera it does not stand out. You do not want it to be discovered. If the camera requires it be plugged in to an external power source you have to allow for distance from an outlet or how well you can hide an extension cord. It would probably be a little suspicious if you had an extension cord running into a book (that happens to contain a hidden camera) on your bookshelf don’t you think?

Try to avoid buying a unit that has to be manually turned off and on. This will require you to put it in a location that you can get to easily when you want it to record. The other option is to get a camera that is either motion activated, sound activated or can be set to record at only certain times. This will permit you to initially turn the camera on and leave it that way. The camera will go into a stand-by mode until activated by sound or motion. Pretty convenient!

Again, if you decide that you want to watch the recording in real-time you will have to be running some wires. No big deal if the situation permits. For the wireless hidden cameras you will need a transmitter attached to the camera. This tends to make it not as easy to hide. Then you need a receiver at your monitor or TV. You have to run a cable from the receiver to your TV or monitor. More cables! On wired cameras you will not have a transmitter or receiver. You run a cable directly from the camera all the way to your monitor or TV.

When you purchase hidden cameras it is important to know how to use them so you don’t let your money go to waste. It is very common for people to purchase cameras and never use them or forget that the tape was too full months ago and stopped recording back then. This becomes a problem when you are burglarized but you don’t have the video to prove who did it and when.

You will be glad you learned how to set it up correctly when you have hard proof on video.

Reasons to Use Hidden Cameras

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

There are many reasons to use hidden cameras. Many of the reasons take place at work, at home, in a parking lot, and much more. Protecting yourself, your family, and your property is the best thing you can do and hidden cameras can assist you with that in many ways.

If you think something is going on in your office at work or your home when you are away you should consider using a hidden camera. The newer ones can be very small and positioned in almost any location. They also blend in real well with where you put them. You can get a motion activated, a sound activated, or scheduled recording time, hidden camera.

One reason to use hidden cameras is at work. Statistics show that employees in retail jobs are the ones that steal from the companies and not so much the customers. Cameras allow you to confirm your suspicions and find out which employee is taking from you. Workplace issues with employees stealing office supplies and even money from the petty cash drawer is also very common. It is hard to prove who did it with a number of employees and when it is happening in your office. This is the best time to get a hidden camera so you can find out which employee it is that is betraying you.

Whether we like to admit it or not, when we leave our kids at home by themselves all heck could break loose. Did you tell them not to go near your computer but when you came home you can tell ONE of them had used it? Which one was it? Do you punish them all? Do you do nothing at all? By putting a hidden camera in a position to see the area your computer is located you can find out for sure which one, or ones, have been fooling around on your computer. You only have to catch one of them and the others will usually fall in line and behave when you are not there.

If you have a vehicle and you find that it has been damaged many times by someone repeatedly running their key along the side of it while you are working or even stealing parts from it at night while you are asleep then you can use hidden cameras. The only downfall to using outdoor cameras like this is that they will pick up more activity than you may want to watch. You will however find out what is going on at night around your vehicle.

At home, a hidden camera can help protect your children from their bad, and sometimes unsafe, behavior. It can help store owners increase their profits by decreasing their loss from employee theft. They are an excellent tool for the police because they provide rock solid evidence when they capture somebody recorded committing a crime. It is a good idea to buy a hidden camera and protect yourself and your family.
